VENUE

Where are you located?

We are situated in the theatre district of Milton Keynes, next door to the MK gallery. You can find us here

Is it easy to find a parking nearby?

  1. There are a good number 3 hours free (no return within 2 hours) bays at the front of our venue (directly in front of TGI Fridays and Kaspas). This can get busy at times but if you allow 10min and wait, normally one or two bays will come up. Please be mindful of the street signs as there are resident permit holder only bays, as well as electric and plug in-vehicle charging points.
  2. There is a new multi-storey car park at the John lewis end of Centre MK which is reasonably priced at £1-£2 per hour depending on the day of the week when you are coming. 
  3. There is also on-street premium rate car parking throughout Centre MK and the Xscape which is £2.80 per hour. 
  4. The theatre car park can also be used, but it is not always open and it's quite old and so the bays are very narrow.

Do you have air conditioning?

Yes, the venue is fully air conditioned, to keep equipment and players cool. 

How do I buy gift vouchers?

Gift vouchers can be purchased through our website or directly over the counter at our venue and they are valid for 12 months. 

How can I use my gift vouchers?

Simply go on to our website and select the amazing experience you’d like to take part in. When you get the checkout simply enter the voucher code, et voila! You’re good to go.

What can I do if I’m just spectating?

If you will not be participating in any of the attractions, each arena is supplied with a comfy chair for you to sit back and relax while spectating. We also have a small sitting area at the end of our bar if you would rather sit at a table.

Your waiver mentions photography and video. Will I be photographed?

If we are ever filming or photographing guests in our venue, we will always ask for permission beforehand. This section of the waiver is to cover those who may appear in the background of one of our recordings or images. We will always do everything in our power to let you know if there is ever filming or photography going on in our venue, and if there are any concerns you can speak to a member of our friendly staff to let them know. 

Do you sell food and drink?

Everything you need for a fab day out under one roof. We have a bar that offers light snacks, alcoholic and soft drinks. We can also order additional catering sourced from our local suppliers for your private events and special occasions.

Do you still have the Gaming PCs?

No, we do not have gaming PCs anymore.

Can I do this if I'm pregnant?

Our VR arenas are absolutely fine if you are pregnant, however, we advise due to the intensity of some of the rides that pregnant women consult with a medical professional before taking part.

Will the equipment fit over my glasses?

Depending on the size of your lenses, most of our equipment will comfortably fit over your glasses. It should be noted that some people find with VR that they are still able to see perfectly fine without their glasses. 

Can I still play with a broken arm?

Unfortunately, because of the need of two controllers in the VR arenas you will not be able to play. Nevertheless you can take part in the VR Sphere and 5D Cinema, but please be mindful these are intense moving attractions and we would advise against taking part. 

Are you wheelchair accessible?

Yes, our building is wheelchair accessible, although the Venue is on 2 levels and unfortunately there is only stair access to the second floor. However, half of our Arenas and all of our motion rides are located on the lower floor, so you will be able to take part in everything we have on offer.

Do you offer a carer discount?

We currently offer free rides in the 5D cinema and free teas and coffees for carers. 

What if I suffer from epilepsy?

With VR the images flash very quickly and generally this is too quickly to trigger a seizure in people with photosensitive epilepsy. However, the field of view is large and so more of the eye is stimulated. This means that more of the brain may be affected and this might trigger a photosensitive seizure. We advise consulting with a medical professional beforehand. 

Is this venue ASD friendly?

We offer ASD friendly sessions called ‘open doors’ every Wednesday (excluding school holidays) from 1-3pm. You will have access to a curated selection of our experiences, with control over the lighting and sound in our venue. Do I have to book in advance?

We advise booking VR Arenas in advance in order to ensure you have a slot. With regards to our Motion Rides (5d Cinema, VR Sphere, VR Ride) you are likely to get a slot on the day, but if you don’t want to risk it we strongly advise booking a specific time slot online. 

Can I bring food from outside?

Unless you are part of a booked VR birthday party you will not be allowed to bring food from outside retailers. However, we offer snacks and drinks at our in house bar.  

Do you serve alcohol?

Yes, we sell a range of wines, ciders and beers. Please be mindful that we are fully adhering to a Challenge 25 alcohol sales policy.

Can I use the playstations upstairs?

Unfortunately unless you are part of a booked birthday party, you are unable to play on the playstations.

Are you hiring?

We’re always on the lookout for bright, enthusiastic people to join our team. Follow us on Indeed and make sure to submit an application whenever there is an opening. 

How often do you get new content?

We aim to update our content as often as possible, and we’re constantly adding new games to our VR Arenas.  

Can VR make me feel motion sick?

Although it's a possibility, the majority of our customers do not experience this. Some of these games are designed to specifically avoid causing motion sickness. However, if you do start to feel ill while playing, please take some time out of the headset until you feel better.

Do I have to wear a mask while playing?

Although you do not have to wear a mask while in the VR Arenas or rides, it is at your own risk.

What Covid Prevention Measure are in place

First of all we believe that our VR experiences were almost made for social distancing. Each VR Station is 2.6m wide with plenty of space for keeping apart. Our VR Spheres are self-contained motion pods with more than 1m between each unit.

Due to the fact that our 5D Cinema has 4 seats, we are only allowing up to two households familiar to each other on the ride at any one time in order to keep in line with Government advised guidelines.

Our sanitising procedures include the application of antibacterial solution and lens cleaners after every use of equipment. We have adopted a 30min cycle for high touch areas in the building as well as medical UV-C light application which kills 99% of existing germs and bacteria, and is used on all headsets and controllers on a daily basis. We provide hygiene masks to each VR Station user no matter big or small. We use disposable silicone gloves when helping visitors to fit the headset, and our tills are fitted with PVC protection screens. Sanitising stations are available throughout the building and accompanied by social distancing awareness posters and traffic control floor signs. Our capacity has been reduced and we have switched to a *cashless, bookings only operation*(we do allow a limited number of walk-ins subject to availability).

EVENTS

Do you ever host competitions?

We are keen believers in the competitiveness in every one of us, therefore we had to include these in our entertainment program. We are planning at least 20 eSports events at VertigoVR MK for the next year. That will include local and major championships and live finals streaming on our enormous video wall. You will have a chance to prove your VR skills 

How often are your events?

Although competitions are less regular, we do have a number of recurring weekly events to try and bring the amazing world of VR to a wider community. Be sure to check out what we have on offer. 

MOTION RIDES

What is a VR Sphere?

Our VR Sphere’s are a combination of motion, virtual reality and wind to make you feel as though you are really there. With over 20 titles to experience, from soaring through the sky, to exploring the depths of the ocean,  you can expect to feel a simulated 90% free-fall in your own private pod.

Can I play games in the VR Sphere?

There are games available in the VR sphere. Please ask a member of staff if you would like to try them out.

What is the VR Ride?

Our VR ride is a stand up attraction that moves under your feet with the film you are experiencing. This attraction is one of our most intense and immersive experiences, so make sure you hold on tight! 

What is the 5D cinema?

Our 5D cinema is a thrilling combination of 3D Movies, moving platforms, and real effects including water, wind, smoke, and many more. Up to 4 people can use the cinema at any one time, which makes it a great activity for families and small groups.

How many people can use the 5D cinema at once?

Our 5D Cinema capacity is 4 people at one time.

Can my child sit on my lap in the 5D cinema?

Unfortunately not, this would be a health and safety hazard. 

Is there an age limit?

Yes, our age limit is 6+ due to the size of our equipment. However, it is at our staff’s discretion whether the attraction can still be used if a child is too small to fit our VR headsets or rides. 

How long does it last?

Each of our motion rides and simulators lasts anywhere from 3 -7mins (5mins approx).  For the VR Arena you can book in half hour increments from 30 mins up to 2hrs (or even more if you feel like it).

What do the combos include?

Our All-in-one combo includes 1hour in the VR Arena, a Mix&MAtch combo and a soft drink all for £35. Please not this is only available Monday-Thursday

Can I get a refund if I cancel?

With cancellations we are able to either reschedule your booking to a more convenient time, or we can offer vouchers to the value of your booking. 

Can I amend my booking once it has been paid for?

ARENAS

What is a VR Arena?

Each arena is a room-scale gaming environment powered by the HTC Vive. Fire arrows, dodge bullets and train with a lightsaber. Whichever virtual world you choose, you’ll be in control of the action. You can even try out multiplayer with family or friends if you hire multiple arenas.During your allocated time slot you are free to browse through an ever expanding library of over 40 VR titles. 

Do I need to have played VR before?

You don't not need to have any experience with VR. At the beginning of each session one of our staff members will give you a tutorial on how our equipment works to ensure the best experience, they will also be on hand to answer any questions you have during and after your session.

How many games do you have?

We have over 50 games and experiences to choose from on our VR Arenas. We are constantly updating and adding new games to our systems so be sure to check out our games list on the website. 

Am I limited to just one game?

No not at all, we have over 50 games in our library for you to freely explore during your time in the VR arenas. You could go from fighting zombies to being a fruit ninja in a matter of seconds. You don’t need to worry about having any prior experience or technical knowledge as everything is set up to be as user friendly as possible. If you ever get stuck our delightful staff are always on hand for recommendations and guidance.

Can I book 1 Arena for multiple people?

Unfortunately not. Due to time and hygiene reasons we are unable to allow our customers to share just one arena.

Can I Play Multiplayer

A number of our VR titles are set up for multiplayer gaming. If you book more than one Arena you will be able to play together in the same game and communicate through your Headsets. Depending on the title You can do either co-operative or PvP (Player Vs Player) from 2 up to 8 players.

Can I make sure multiple arenas are next to each other?

We will do our best to put groups of players near each other. However, it is not necessary as players can speak and interact with each other no matter where they are in the venue, through the VR arenas headsets. 

How long should I book for?

If you have had no prior experience with VR we recommend that you book at least a 60 minute time slot on our VR Arenas to allow you enough time to understand how they work and get to grips with the technology and games we offer. 

Can I use the VR Arenas while sitting down?

We recommend standing while playing in our VR Arenas because of the need for movement in some of our games. However, if there is a medical reason why a player may need to be seated we will do our best to accommodate you and recommend suitable titles. There is still plenty of fun to be had.

Can I play VR with glasses on?

For the most part, yes. When wearing glasses with VR, most frames should safely fit. However, some larger frames might not be suitable.

Parties

What is included with the party?

Party goers will get to experience our VR Arenas, a VR Sphere movie and multiplayer race, and a 5D movie. In addition to this they will be given exclusive access to our party area with tables, chairs and Playstation consoles, as well as a designated party host to guide them through the activities. The birthday player will also get to experience the VR Ride and up to two party organisers can have free rides on our VR Sphere and 5D Cinema  as a special bonus. How much does it cost?

There is a fixed fee for parties up to 8 players of £200 off-peak, and £240 at peak times. Any additional players are charged at £25 off peak, and £30 at peak times.

When is peak time?

Our peak times are weekends and school holidays.  

What is the minimum number of people for a party?

There is no minimum number, but there is a flat fee of 8 people.

What is the maximum number of people?

Currently the maximum is 12 people due to covid restrictions. However, please note this will change with the easing of lockdown. 

How long does the party last?

Your party will last 2 hours and 15 minutes.1 hour and 10 minutes of this time will be spent immersed in our activities, while the remaining time will be spent in our private party room where the party will have a full advantage of the playstations and the option for food. 

Is food and drink included in the package?

Food and drink are not automatically included in the party package. However, there is an option to add these on when you submit your enquiry.

Can I bring my own food?

If you don’t fancy the pizzas we have on offer, you are more than welcome to order food to be delivered to our venue from any of the surrounding food establishments. We recommend arranging delivery for around 70 minutes after your allocated start time. 

We do ask that all drinks are purchased on the premises. 

How big are the pizzas?

The pizzas are 12” and are cut into 8 slices. Generally, 1 pizza is enough for 2 kids, although this is of course dependent on age and appetite!

Do you provide cutlery?

No, we no longer provide cutlery. However, you are more than welcome to bring your own.

Do parents need to be present?

If the party goers are under the age of 12, we ask that at least two responsible adults remain in the venue. They are at liberty to use the motion rides, and are welcome to relax in the party area.

Can I bring my own decorations?

Yes of course! You are more than welcome to decorate your dedicated party room.

Can I light candles or sparklers?

Yes! You can light up the room (within reason)

Is there an age Limit?

Unfortunately our attractions are only suitable for ages 6 and above. This is mainly due to the physical challenge of fitting our headsets or 3D glasses on to smaller heads.

Can I have a go?

Yes. We offer free rides to up to two party organisers. The kids can't have all the fun!

Can I hire the whole venue for an event?

Yes you can! We offer a Theme Park package which allows complete access to our venue and unlimited use of every attraction. Attendees will be able to play together, play solo and enjoy every single one of our immersive thrill rides to their heart's content. Can I get a refund if I cancel the event?

With parties, if you cancel your booking up to 48 hours in advance you can expect to receive a full refund.

Can I change the number of guests?

Amendments can be made to the party booking up to 24 hours in advance. To avoid disappointment we do advise letting us know as soon as possible if you wish to add guests to your booking. There are a limited number of arenas and we can’t always guarantee that there will be space available. 

How do I pay for my party?

Once we have arranged a time for your party and confirmed availability, an email will be sent containing a party invite for you to share with guests along with a link to your invoice. We do ask that you try to pay within 3 days of receiving this email to secure your booking, but if you need longer just let us know.
